My sister is adorable. (My other sister is too!) But I had the privilege of using Nathalie as my “getting back in the photoshoot swing of things” model and wanted to capture some sweet moments of her and her pup. We planned a dog photography session in Carmel, Indiana to document their bond and create memories they’ll have forever.
Nathalie adopted June during the wild and uncertain times of 2020, so they hadn’t really had the chance to get out for professional pet photography until now. This shoot was the perfect opportunity to not only enjoy a sunny afternoon at one of Carmel’s beautiful parks, but also capture authentic, heartfelt images of them together.
For dog portraits, if you know that there’s a specific toy or treat that keeps their attention, bring it! Getting a dogs attention is crucial to make sure we can see them fully. I’ll still get all their goofy moments and craziness too, but having a tool that you know works for them can save a lot of time.
Her session is the perfect example that you don’t need a fancy outfit to look gorgeous in your photos! Whether you’re booking a pet photoshoot, a couples session, or family portraits, it’s all about feeling comfortable and enjoying the moment. I guided them through a few simple prompts and poses to keep things natural, and the result was a collection of photos filled with joy, laughter, and the unique bond between a girl and her dog.
